Sustainability in software testing needn't be rocket science

Pragmatic ways of looking at and measuring progress in sustainability for software testing and would include discussion of: - History of how we came to be interested in sustainable testing practices - How known good practice can be looked at through a carbon lens to help with greener testing - The categories that we use to look at sustainability (process, test environments, housekeeping and measurement) - The difficulties of providing absolute measurements in this area - The mechanism we have developed to provide relative measurements to help organisations make progress in sustainability

Simon has been working in software testing for over thirty-four years and has worked in most test roles in that time. For the last fifteen years he has specialised in test process improvement, both as a consultant and in senior in-house roles. He now works for Experimentus (the world’s leading TMMi service providers) in the UK, heading up their test process improvement division and is a Director of the UK and Ireland Testing Board with responsibility for promoting the Test Maturity Model integration (TMMi) through his leadership of the TMMi UK Local Chapter. Simon is an accredited TMMi Lead Assessor and has helped clients worldwide to achieve their test process improvement goals. He is interested in the topic of sustainability in testing and is working to promote that in conjunction with large UK financial institutions.
