The Importance of QA in Technology Sustainability
In this talk Oliver will start by explain the Open Source Tech Carbon Standard (TCS). A framework which is now being used by many organisations globally to map, measure and reduce the carbon emissions of their technology. Oliver will then zoom in on the Test and QA part of the DevOps lifecycle and the role of QA engineers to measure and track emissions reduction. Also considerations for how to reduce the impact of QA and testing itself.

He and his team published an open source Tech Carbon Standard to guide technology sustainability – https://www.techcarbonstandard.org With over 20 years of experience, Oliver started in hands on engineering roles progressing into architecture and leadership roles spanning technology strategy, innovation, and R&D. His experience includes applications development, solution and enterprise / chief architect positions in energy, finance, government and tech; gaining expertise across cloud architecture, emerging technologies, data/AI platforms and sustainability. Currently serving as Scott Logic’s Technology Director, Oliver takes a big picture view – balancing strategic vision with practical, pragmatic solutions.
